My clutch release bearing broke up during a high engine speed 3rd to 4th gear change, the noise it made was awful.
I have replaced the clutch and release bearing but now when i downshift INTO 4th from a higher gear (5th or 6th) i experience a crunch. I think my synchro for that gear is gone.
What part would i need replaced and how much is a full synchromesh replacement by a gearbox specialist likely to be? 2001 Toyota CelicaGearbox problem. Advice required please.?
Sounds more like a gear linkage problem than a syncro problem, if the syncro was gone you would have difficulties changing up to 4th as well as down from 5th.

You are going to love this answer, to Recife this problem you need to stop trying to compete with a Ferrari. Hi no dis-respect meant in my post, my daughter tried fast clutching with her car I warned her what she was trying to do is compete with a Ferrari (Sarki comment) she kept knocking the centre of the clutch out, so who repaired it? the Mug who is writing this post LOL.
